for the font lover in your life.

we decided to do hand drawn credits for the SoulPancake webisodes, so my work today consisted of creating a font. otherwise known as MY NEW FAVORITE THING TO DO. i used this handy site. and it got me thinking, giving someone an original font as a gift is pretty awesome. so for all you creative types out there looking for that perfect valentines day gift, you’re welcome.

I didn’t know there was a link for that but this actually makes sense why I see fonts named Joanna, Sara, Tyler, and every other name. I’ve been told many times not to use fonts named after places or people. There are some exceptions, like I like the font Memphis and Lady Rene.

A sweet concept but not highly recommended for design. The only reason is that…well all your handwritten “g’s” and “w’s” for example, all look the same. You weirdly lose the handwritten quality of your font which you were trying to achieve in the first place. Also, the kerning isn’t as natural as you yourself would make it. Like the word “certain” the t and the a are too far apart which i doubt would happen if you had actually written that word.

It’s a pain in the butt but I would want to just handwrite all the credits and make them separate files. You’ll like the effect so much more. I know I do.

I love love love handwritten type more than anything. Hand Job by Michael Perry is a currently favorite source of inspiration so…I apologize I wrote such a long comment.

I always love your posts and reading about everything you’re up to.
