I love this fruit. We’ve been having at least 1-2 per day. So – what works is to slice all the way around into 4 “slices” but only skin deep and gently (don’t cut through it). Then you pry (coax) it apart so the seeds separate at their will. Now you have 4 “slices” with all seeds intact and now you can pluck each seed off so it’ll melt in your mouth, and not in your hand.
i like the water method, but i think it takes too long… instead i found a good one on the web and can’t find the link now. anyways, it’s incredibly fast and clean and has me cutting them open once a day ;) anyways, you cut the nub off, then cut the skin across the hemisphere without going all the way through. pry the halves apart. then, cut four notches (north, S, E, W) in each half. turn the cut side over your palm and hold it over a bowl. take a wooden spoon and smack the back of the fruit repeatedly. it’s really incredible, but it all just falls out into the bowl. rotate the fruit a few times to get all the sides, but it really is quite fast, no mess (if your bowl is big enough), and everything pretty much stay whole. i’ll try and find the actual link because it’s easier to understand with the pictures :) good luck!
